The 2008 Australian & NZ Air Guitar Champion (ANZAGC) is… ‘Clay Bangers’!!
Clay Connolly aka ‘Clay Bangers’, 08 SA State Champ took out the 7th Annual ANZAGC National Grand Final on Friday night 29/5/08 at ‘The Vic Hotel’, Darwin, Northern Territory. ‘Bangers’ who is actually a Victorian has been competing on the AAGC circuit for 7 years claiming the 05 QLD & National titles and returned to Air Guitar World Championships (AGWC) stage where he placed 8th overall. Craig "Hot Lixx Hulahan" Billmeier from the US won the 2008 AGWC. The Ideology of AGWC is to promote world peace. According to the AGWC ideology, all evil things disappear from the world whenever people play the air guitar. Now etched in A&NZ Air Guitar folk law, ‘Bangers’ win was hard fort due to very stiff competition from fellow champions including: ‘Wrath McKenzie’ (QLD), ‘Boner’ (ACT), ‘Big Bad Bronson’ & ‘Steve the Destroyer’ (NT), ‘Wild Man from the Wheat Belt’ (WA) & ‘The Ginge Shreddor’ (NZ). ‘Bangers’ technical & high energy performance gave him the slightest of edges over second placegetter ‘Jimmy Dangles’ (NSW) & third placegetter ‘Linzman – the air apparent’ (VIC). Competitors put on an unforgettable show performing countless outrageous air antics to impress the judges and the large appreciative audience.
