Lip Sync World Championships past events & photo gallery
The ‘Lip Sync World Championships’ (LSWC) can be described as 'karaoke on caffeine' or 'a version of the Euro vision song contest without the singing' where upon contestants delve into the abyss of abstract performance art miming a musical performance (sing, interpretive dance, etc) to backing music.
For many, Lip Sync really all began when video killed the radio star & the introduction of popular music group ‘Milli Vanilli’ who rose to international fame on the strength of their hit singles and compelling stage presence, but will be remembered most for their unauthenticity.
Regardless of its origins, Lip Sync is an art form & an intricate part of the entertainment industry utilised during film clip production, movies, choreography, stage rehearsals, shopping centre & TV appearances, etc, etc.
Lip Sync is used as often as proactive face cream by many artists including the pioneers of the art form ‘Milli Vanilli’, through to modern day disciple’s & alleged offenders such as ‘Ashley Simpson’, 'Britney Spears', etc.
A brief overview of judging criteria includes precise or unique interpretation, showmanship, technique & interpretive dance/movement.
Sensational prizes including a cash prize pool is up for grabs along with the priceless prestige of the World Champion title which will be worth its weight in rehab & liposuction to any Lip Sync devotee.

2010 Lip Sync World Championships – GRAND FINAL RESULTS
The 3rd annual 2010 ‘Lip Sync World Championships’ (LSWC) GRAND FINAL took place on Monday night 30th August 2010 at ‘The Lost Arc’, Darwin, NT, Australia.
All performers mimed up a storm in an effort to impress the judging panel and audience in order to secure the title of the world’s greatest Lip Sync star.
Only one could be awarded this honour and that was none other then drag queen extraordinaire, ‘Phillip Coffey’ aka ‘Vogue Magazine’.
‘Vogues’ unforgettable rendition of ‘Queens’, ‘Somebody to Love’ was more then enough to secure the title and fend off the other outstanding performers including runner up, ‘Ricky’ & third placegetter, ‘Ruthie A’.
In an emotional, mascara running moment, ‘Vogue’ gracefully accepted the award noting that the fame will not go to her head or wig however she was now contemplating adopting a child from overseas.
Congratulations to ‘Vogue’ and all other performers who competed in the qualifying heats and grand final. We look forward to seeing you all back on stage at next years event.
