& AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL Final.

Australian Qualifying Round - Open to all players 18 years+ & AUST citizen - registration onsite at venue from 6.00pm - play begins at 7.00pm. Competition and venue entry is free. Limited entries available - first in best dressed. Top placegetters from qualifying round join State/Territory champions in the Main Event / Grand Final (10.30pm approx) to decide the 2008 champion.
The ARPSC National Champion will go onto to compete in the 7th Annual ‘World Rock Paper Scissor Championships’ (WRPSC) in Toronto, Canada in October.
Along with a wealth of fame and admiration from RPS peers, some great prizes are up for grabs including trips to the National Final for State/Territory Champs, &, the major prize of an overseas Trip for one to Toronto, Canada for the Australian Champion to attend and compete, with an advanced standing, in the 2008 World RPS Championships.
ARPSC competition entry is free, unless charity fundraiser, and registration will be accepted on the day/night of competition. Players are encouraged to enter a team, themed if desired, or just fly solo.
2007 Queensland & National Champ Ricky Sheahan aka ‘Balboa’, a 20 year old left hander from Brisbane, put his best hand forward at the World Champs managing a place in the top 16.
Andrea Farina of Syracuse, NY became the 2007 World Rock Paper Scissors Champion & the first every female World Champ, after trumping fellow countryman David Arnold of Washington, DC with James Doolittle of Toronto coming in 3rd. This is the United States first ever Gold Medal placing since the World RPS Championships began in 2002.
An internationally renowned sport, the history of Rock Paper Scissors (RPS) is extremely rich. RPS is also know as; Jenken or Jan Ken Pon (Japan), Roshambo (Southwestern U.S.), Shnik Shnak Shnuk (Germany), Ching Chong Chow (South Africa), Farggling (U.S.) & Scissors Paper Stone (United Kingdom).
RPS is a decision making game of wits, speed, dexterity and strategy between players who are unable to reach a decision using other means. The result of a match is considered a binding agreement between the players. In the case of professional or tournament play the decision is replaced by honour points toward a championship title.
ARPSC competition rules are governed, maintained and approved by the World RPS Society (WRPSS) under the guidance and authority of the World RPS Steering Committee.

2007 RPS World Champs...The 2007 ‘World Rock Paper Scissor Championships’ (WRPSC) brought approx 1000 competitors and spectators from around the world to Toronto where players competed for the prestigious title of World Champion.
Andrea Farina (pic above), the first ever female RPS World Champ, from New York, USA won the 2007 WRPSC. Farina beat approximately 500 competitors to take the World Champion title, $7,000 CDN and the gold medal. Australia's representative, 'Balboa' placed in the top 32.
