The 2003 New Zealand Air Guitar Champion is… ‘McInroe’!!

Dave 'McInroe' Rowlands, representing the Clock Bar in Christchurch,
took out the 2nd Annual 2003 New Zealand Air Guitar
Championships National Grand Final held at the Poenamo Hotel,
Auckland.
‘McInroe’ went onto represent New Zealand at the 8th Annual Air Guitar World Championships (AGWC), Finland, 30/8/03, where he placed an impressive 4th place.
Now
part of air guitar history, ‘McInroe’s’ bizarre
second round performance at the 03 NZAGC National Final featuring the donning of a horse head was enough
to ‘get him ahead by a nose’ (72.37 points) from
2002 NZAGC champion and silver medallist at the 02 AGWC,
‘Tobanator’ (71.07 points).
Coming up the rear was ‘Furious Fingers Smith (Innvercargill
– 68.35 points) in third place followed by other fellow
regional champions including: ‘Jumpin
Jazza Flash’ (Sth AKL), ‘Busta’ (New Plymouth),
‘Bradley Boy Holmes’’ (Hamilton), ‘Vile’ (AKL) &
special guest wild card ‘Gizzy Guitar’ (AKL & NZ
highest placed female competitor).
Competitors
put on an unforgettable show strumming up an air storm and
performing countless outrageous air antics to impress the
judges and the large appreciative audience.
Air
Guitar Australia would like to take this opportunity to thank
all competitors, participating venues and The Rock radio
station for there support of the 03 NZAGC.
